Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (Level 3) course is designed for professionals who work as coaches, counsellors or therapists and are working with children and young people.

This course goes beyond awareness. It equips safeguarding leads with the confidence, legal knowledge, and practical frameworks required to manage concerns, respond appropriately to risk, and create safe, accountable safeguarding cultures.

Course Format:

The Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead training is run over two consecutive days from 930am – 330pm

The course is held Online (zoom) 

You will be sent your training manual prior to the course. 

Online multiple-choice quiz to complete on Day 1 and 2 

Certificates will be issued once the course has been completed. 

The course costs £325 

A refresher course costs £195.

Day 1 Training (930-330) explores:

    • Creating and maintaining a safeguarding culture
    • GDPR and ICO requirements 
    • Risk factors and mitigating factors in safeguarding
    • ACEs and Vulnerabilities to abuse  
    • Categories of abuse
    • Advanced indicators of abuse and neglect
    • Contextual safeguarding
    • Online and digital safeguarding risks
    • Parental alienation and the safeguarding risk
    • Sibling abuse 
    • The role of affluent neglect in safeguarding 
    • Understanding the impact of child on Parent Abuse 
    • Responding and referral pathways in eating disorders and suicidal ideation 

Day 2 Training (930-330) explores: 

  • Prevent Duty 
  • Understanding the role of radicalisation and the risk to young people 
  • Vulnerabilities when working with young people who are neurodivergent or have additional needs 
  • Elective Home Education and safeguarding responsibilities 
  • Building effective safeguarding procedures 
  • The role of professional curiosity and challenge 
  • Multi-agency working and escalation pathways
  • Early intervention vs statutory referral
  • Information sharing and confidentiality
  • Safe working practices and risk assessment
  • Recording and reporting procedures
  • Allegations against professionals 
  • Escalation and whistleblowing
  • Working with resistant families
  • Managing your own needs following safeguarding incidents
  • Safety planning and safety netting 

Please Note – Safeguarding is a consistently changing landscape. Manuals are therefore  subject to annual updates to reflect changes in policy, research, legislation and guidance from safeguarding directives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I receive a course manual? Yes, your course manual is sent out prior to the course. Please be aware that if you sign up for training within 3 days of the course commencing that this may be delayed. 

Do I receive a certificate? Yes, on completion of both days of training and the two multiple-choice assessments you will receive your certificate of attendance. 

I cannot attend Day 1 or 2 of the course, can I still complete this course? No, you are required to attend both days of the training in full to complete the course. Failure to attend one day will mean that your certificate will not be issued. 

Is the course accredited? Yes, the course is accredited. 

 

How do I achieve my certificate? Your certificate will be issued to you on completion of both days of the course. 

I have attended previously, do I pay full price to attend again? No, if you have attended previously please email us directly and you can pay a reduced refresher rate of £195. 

When do  I have course access? Your course access will open the week before your course begins, allowing you to familiarise yourself with the platform. 

How do I attend the sessions? Your zoom link is sent to you the day before your course. Please ensure that your camera is on and that you are in a private space. 

I want to attend with a friend, can we share a camera? No, you will need to access your own camera and zoom link as we will allocate students to breakout rooms for sessions.
