Therapeutic Coach Certification

We are delighted to invite eligible students to obtain their Dandelion Training and Development Therapeutic Coaching Certification.

At Dandelion Training and Development, we recognise that on completion of our coaching training, our coaches are beyond just ‘a coach’ and offer a supportive, therapeutic early intervention for children, young people and their families.

Our certification recognises those students who have committed to their personal development and have completed a range of training, which meet the thresholds for Therapeutic Coach Certification (please note, this does not insure you as a therapist, nor may you refer to yourself as such). The certification is a standard of excellence and higher level skillset.

Your certificate is renewed annually.

To qualify and apply, you will need to have successfully completed:

  • The Level 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Coach Qualification
  • The Level 5 Advanced Relaxation Techniques for Child Coaches
  • The Level 5 Parent Coaching Qualification or Level 5 Parent Coach for Neurodivergent Families
  • The Level 3 Emotional Literacy Mentor Qualification
  • Evidence of your in date ACCPH registration certificate
  • Current Insurance Certificate
  • Registered in the Dandelion Directory
  • Submitted a successful certification application, including their action plan for self-development over the proceeding 12 months.

This equates to an average of 450 hours of training and a minimum of 195 hours of practice.

On receipt of a successful application, coaches will receive a Dandelion Certificate of Excellence as a Therapeutic Child and Parent Coach, access to the excellence logo for your website along with access to marketing guidance, resources and a code of ethics.

            On completion

On achieving Therapeutic Coach status, successful applicants are:

            • Provided with a certificate of recognition from Dandelion Training
            • On submission of their certificate to the ACCPH, accredited members will be upgraded to ‘Senior’ members. Senior members will be upgraded to ‘Fellow’ status.

            Scope of Practice

On achieving the Dandelion Training and Development Therapeutic Coach Certification, coaches commit to working within their scope of practice at all times.

            As a Therapeutic Coach, coaches:

            • Ensure that the advertising of their services much clearly and transparently utilise the wording ‘Therapeutic Coach’. Coaches are not authorised to refer to themselves as, or allude to being a therapist at any time
            • Ensure that they access a minimum of four supervision sessions per year
            • At no time, provide medical advice or guidance which may be interpreted as medical advice or diagnosis

            • Commit to their ongoing personal development, keeping clear records of their CPD
            • Commit to ensuring that they follow the ACCPH Code of Ethics at all times

This means that coaches will ensure that they do not work with any children or adults who have a diagnosis of, or are awaiting assessment for the following contraindicated conditions.

With any training, there are contra-indicators to your permitted work. These guidelines are to protect both the child or adolescent you are working with, as well as yourself. Some mental health disorders are intricate and whilst we can want to help it is important to recognise that there are some conditions outside of the scope of work for this qualification. This does not prevent you from seeking further training and education to extend your knowledge and skills in some areas. Please ensure that you always operate within your principles of practice, if in doubt refer to your supervisor or registering body.

Recognising life long learning and a commitment to child mental health and well-being is incredibly important to Dandelion Training. Celebrating those students who have gone to exceptional lengths to achieve this status is therefore something we are excited to offer to our students.

I look forward to celebrating those who reach Therapeutic Coach status.

            Best wishes

            Nicky xx
