In this long course, we take a deep dive into behaviour, exploring the physiology, psychology and contributing factors which affect children and adolescents.

  • Be aware of the role of Maslow’s Hierarchy in behaviour
  • Be aware of the iceberg analogy and create a behaviour iceberg
  • Plan steps of a behaviour cycle

Section two: 

  • Understand the concept of a child’s window of tolerance
  • Be aware of the ABC of behaviour and how this relates to children
  • Be able to apply the ABC model to a range of different behaviours
  • Be aware of the impact of shame on children’s behaviour

Section three: 

  • Be aware of the role of connection and co-regulation in supporting children’s behaviour
  • Positive reinforcement
  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Strategies to support behaviour
