Specialist Course: Understanding & Supporting Attachments in Childhood (Long Course)

In this long course, we take a deep dive into Attachment exploring the physiology, psychology and contributing factors which affect children and adolescents.

Section 1:

• Be aware of the development of attachments in childhood
• Be aware of the impact of parenting and connection on attachment formation
• Understand the role of trauma and abuse on attachment development
• Be aware of the differing symptoms and presentations of attachments
• Know how attachments affect our belief systems about connections
• Understand how attachments can affect our parenting responses

Section 2:

• Know how attachments can present in education settings
• Understand the role of attachment in mental health vulnerability
• Recognise the impact of attachments on how we feel our feelings, stress and pain

Section 3:

• Recognise how attachment styles can affect our communication styles and friendships
• Be aware of how to support young people with attachment difficulties
• Be aware of a range of supports that children require
